STAGE 3 BEGINS SEPTEMBER 8!

We are thrilled to announce that we will enter STAGE 3 of our Reopening on September 8. We are so happy to welcome you back to the Y.

We are thrilled to have seen so many of our members who have visited our YMCA so far. It has been GREAT to see so many familiar faces. We understand and know that not everyone is ready to come back to the YMCA yet. For those still not ready, we have plenty of virtual offerings on our Beyond Our Walls Page and through or Member’s Exclusive Facebook Group for everyone to enjoy.

Y Cares Financial Assistance is also available to all current qualifying members of the YMCA of Greater Nashua. More information about our financial assistance program can be found on our Membership Page or by downloading the Y CARES application.

 

STAGE 3 Details:

As we reopen the YMCA facilities further to members, it is important for all of us to remember that while we take care of our own personal health, we all have a responsibility to the public health. As such, our YMCA will be reopen in stages with different restrictions and responsibilities for members and staff.

We encourage you to please view the STAGE 3 Reopening Member Town Hall video below (a 14 minute watch) as it should help to answer many questions you may have. The Member Town Hall Meeting explains our approach for the beginning of STAGE 3 during the Reopening of our facilities.
During Stage 3, services and classes will be running closer to normal but have limited capacities due to State of NH guidelines, we well augment them as they shift. We’ll still utilize Block Schedule formatting and require reservations for Group Exercise, Strength Blocks, Lap Swimming, Recreation Swimming, Hoop and Court Usage and Racquetball/Tennis. Reservations won’t be needed for cardio equipment or the indoor track use anymore. While we must abide by the State of NH guidelines, we believe that our Block Schedule will give you the opportunity to do most of what you love to do at the YMCA, it will just be more scheduled and mostly by reservation.

  • We’ve begun a Virtual Teen Leader Program and have added in a Teen Mentorship Program to assist youth in our community with educational and personal achievement in our YMCA Educational Academy. Click the links for more information and to register.

  • We’ve begun allowing group reservations for Basketball Hoops (up to 6 members) and Racquetball Courts (up to 4 members) for pick up games and skills improvement. YMCA members can reserve courts with friends and family. Each group will be required to have all participants names included on the reservation. MEMBERS ONLY, no guests allowed at this time.

  • Starting October 5: We’re running program Express Terms that will be 3-4 weeks long to add more flexibility and variety to our program offering model. It will allow parents with changing school plans to join programs after traditional program start dates. Registration for Express Terms opens on September 21.

  • Newly created Outdoor Studios will open at the Nashua Y and Merrimack Y*

  • The Indoor Track at the Merrimack YMCA and Nashua YMCA Will Be First Come, First Serve with a Maximum of 10 Participants at One Time*

  • Youth and Adult Programs Begin

  • We Added More Group Strength and Conditioning Class Blocks to the Schedule*

  • YMCA Provided Personal Equipment (i.e. yoga and stretch mats, towels, magazines, etc.) so please bring your own mats for group exercise classes and towels.

  • Sitting Areas (Sitting space by reservation is coming soon. Stay tuned.)

 

*RESERVATIONS are required for all strength blocks, group exercise classes, lap swimming, recreational swimming and racquetball. Reservations are no longer required for Cardio or the indoor track starting Tuesday, September 8. Please visit our Schedules Page to reserve a spot or learn more details about the fitness spaces.

New Member Experience

We are excited to reopen our doors and welcome you back into our YMCAs and will do so in a manner that supports the health and safety of our members, volunteers, and staff. Below is a brief video and overview of how the member experience will be different as we all come back to the YMCA.

Members will be required to sign updated waivers before entering the YMCA. Wavier links can be found on our schedules page or you can sign them as you enter the YMCA via QR codes and your phone.
Health Checks HEALTH CHECKS
All members and staff will have their temperature taken, complete a brief questionnaire and sanitize their hands upon arrival to the Y.
Health Checks WIPE DOWN EQUIPMENT
Use the cleaning materials provided. Wipe equipment before and after your workout. Flip your flag when you’re finished.
Stay home if you're sick STAY HOME IF YOU’RE SICK
If you are not feeling well, particularly if you have an ongoing cough or fever, please stay home.
KEEP YOUR DISTANCE
Respect all signs regarding social distancing. Stay at least six feet away from others wherever possible.
Wear Your Mask WEAR YOUR MASK
Per local ordinances, masks will be required upon entering and while in common areas. Masks need NOT be worn while exercising.

What the YMCA is Doing

Our #1 Priority is to Make Our Facilities as Safe as Possible When We Begin Reopening.

Our facilities have undergone a deep cleaning to prepare for the reopening and although it will look and feel a bit different when you visit the Y next, the adjustments we’ve made to our facilities will help make it safe for everyone to enjoy the benefits of the YMCA.

Below are some of the adjustments we have made:

  • We have quadrupled our daytime cleaning crew.

  • There are more sanitizing wipes in the wellness centers and common areas; and we have increased hand sanitizers throughout the buildings. We ask that all members use the cleaning materials provided to wipe down equipment before and after their workout.

  • Our cardio and strength equipment are now either spaced 6 feet apart or have been taken out of service to promote social distancing.

  • We have installed plexiglass screens at our Welcome Centers

  • We have increased all staff training to ensure new State of NH Guidelines are understood and being followed.

  • We introduced a new member and program registration management software called Personify, that makes it easier to manage your accounts from home.

  • New Member Engagement Specialists have been added throughout our YMCAs to assist with any questions members may have.

  • We have removed all group seating in our public areas to discourage group gatherings. (There will be seating for those that need to take a rest.)

  • We have removed all YMCA provided personal equipment such as yoga mats, board games and magazines.

  • All staff will be wearing masks, when in public areas.

  • We will do mandatory temperature checks and brief health screenings for everyone entering the building.

  • Staff will be asked to stay home if they are sick.

We have used resources from the dozens of sources including: NH Dept. of Health & Human Services; Nashua’s Public Health Dept.; the Centers for Disease Control; and YMCA of the USA. We have had the opportunity to learn from our peers in YMCAs that have recently reopened. Hopefully you had an opportunity to offer input through our member reopening survey that was emailed in mid-May. We want to know what your concerns are when you return. All of our policy updates will be very visible on signage as you enter and move within the buildings.
