REOPENING WITH CARE AND SAFETY!

We are so happy to welcome you back to the Y.

We are thrilled to have seen so many of our members who have visited our YMCA so far. It has been GREAT to see so many familiar faces. We understand and know that not everyone is ready to come back to the YMCA yet. For those still not ready, we have plenty of virtual offerings on our Beyond Our Walls Page and through or Member’s Exclusive Virtual Y for everyone to enjoy.

Y Cares Financial Assistance is also available to all current qualifying members of the YMCA of Greater Nashua. More information about our financial assistance program can be found on our Membership Page or by downloading the Y CARES application.

 

Latest Details:

MASK MANDATE REPEAL: In accordance with the City of Nashua’s mandate repeal, beginning Thursday, May 27, members, program participants and staff of the YMCA of Greater Nashua who are fully vaccinated may utilize our facilities and participate in programs without a face mask.

The Board of Health and the Nashua City Board of Aldermen highly recommend members of the public who are not fully vaccinated should continue to wear a mask for their own protection and that of others until they are fully vaccinated. As we begin to expand our offerings and welcome more people back to the YMCA facilities, it is important for all of us to remember that while we take care of our own personal health, we all have a responsibility to the public health and keeping each other safe. As such, our YMCA will still utilize restrictions and guidance from the CDC and local health organizations to determine the responsibilities for members and staff during this transition.

Services and classes will be running closer to normal, but may still have limited capacities due to CDC, State of NH and local health organization guidelines, we will continue to augment them as they shift. We’ll still utilize Block Schedule formatting for some areas and spaces at the YMCA that dictate the need, but we are beginning to transition to less required reservations as it is deemed appropriate and safe to do so.

  • Nashua YMCA Steam Room and Sauna (Ages 14+. No reservations required. Limit of 2 people at a time. Limited to 10-minute sessions)

  • We’ve begun to add in drop-in time blocks for Basketball Court, Turf, Multipurpose Field, Lap Swim, Recreational Swimming and other spaces that have been reservation only. Capacity limits still apply but check out the availability on our schedules page to see when there is drop-in times and reservation options.*

  • Guests are welcomed back but must come to the YMCA with a member at this time.

  • Use of cardio and strength equipment is without reservation.

  • Group exercise, water aerobics and functional training classes are by reservation, but growing to 15 participants.*

  • Personal training

  • Locker rooms and shower usage.

  • Sitting and gathering spaces have returned.

  • We’re running a full list of 7-8 week long program sessions for members and the community, of all ages, to enjoy.

  • 3-4 week program Express Terms will be sticking around to assist with greater flexibility and variety options for participants.

  • Outdoor studios will reopen at the Nashua Y and Merrimack Y again this spring to shift some of our group exercise programs outside.

  • Virtual group exercise classes via our Virtual Y, an exclusive members-only virtual fitness and wellness web site.

  • The indoor track at the Merrimack YMCA and Nashua YMCA will be first come, first serve with a maximum of 10 participants using it for walking at one time.

  • Kids Stop is open and increasing the age groups allowed to include children age 1 and above at the Nashua Y and Merrimack Y* More Info

  • National Reciprocity is currently unavailable

  • YMCA Provided Personal Equipment (i.e. yoga and stretch mats, towels, magazines, etc.) so please bring your own mats for group exercise classes and towels.

New Member Experience

Members will be required to sign updated waivers before entering the YMCA. Wavier links can be found on our schedules page or you can sign them as you enter the YMCA via QR codes and your phone.

All members and staff will complete a brief questionnaire and sanitize their hands upon arrival to the Y.

What the YMCA is Doing to Keep Us All Safe

Our #1 Priority is to Make Our Facilities as Safe as Possible When We Begin Reopening.

Our facilities are maintained with the utmost care, cleanliness and safety in mind. Although some of the spaces may look and feel a bit different when you visit the Y, the adjustments we’ve made to our facilities will help make it safe for everyone to enjoy the benefits of the YMCA.

Below are some of the adjustments we have made:

  • We have quadrupled our daytime cleaning crew.

  • There are more sanitizing wipes in the wellness centers and common areas; and we have increased hand sanitizers throughout the buildings. We ask that all members use the cleaning materials provided to wipe down equipment before and after their workout.

  • Our cardio and strength equipment are now either spaced 6 feet apart or have been taken out of service to promote social distancing.

  • We have installed plexiglass screens at our Welcome Centers.

  • We have increased all staff training to ensure new State of NH Guidelines are understood and being followed.

  • We introduced a new member and program registration management software called Personify, that makes it easier to manage your accounts from home or wherever else you feel safe to do so.

  • New Member Engagement Specialists have been added throughout our YMCAs to assist with any questions members may have.

  • We have removed all group seating in our public areas to discourage group gatherings. (There will be seating for those that need to take a rest.)

  • We have removed all YMCA provided personal equipment such as yoga mats, board games and magazines.

  • All staff will be wearing masks, when in public areas.

  • We will do mandatory, but brief health screenings for everyone entering the building to keep us all safe.

  • Staff will be asked to stay home if they are sick.

We have used resources from the dozens of sources including: NH Dept. of Health & Human Services; Nashua’s Public Health Dept.; the Centers for Disease Control; and YMCA of the USA.
