YMCA Celebrates New Solar Installation at Westwood Park YMCA, Advancing Sustainability and Community Impact

The YMCA of Greater Nashua is proud to announce a major step forward in its commitment to environmental stewardship and community reinvestment. On Friday, May 30, we joined local leaders, educators, and impact investors to celebrate the ribbon cutting of our new rooftop solar installation at the Westwood Park YMCA, marking a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to create a more sustainable and impactful future for the Nashua community.

This transformation not only reduces our environmental impact but also significantly lowers our energy costs—allowing us to reinvest savings into programs and services that benefit our members and the greater community.

Mike LaChance Speaking at the Ribbon Cutting for Solar Installation“We’re incredibly excited to bring solar energy to our Westwood Park YMCA,” said Michael LaChance, CEO of the YMCA of Greater Nashua. “This investment is a testament to our commitment to sustainability and to ensuring that we can continue to offer enriching programs and services for our members while contributing to a healthier environment.”

The project, made possible through the efforts of ReVision Energy and financing from Blue Haven Solar, included the installation of a 44 kW rooftop array of approximately 1,400 panels, completed in December 2024. To maximize the building’s solar potential, a significant electrical service upgrade was also completed, boosting capacity from 600 to 800 amps and converting the system from 208 to 480 volts.

“By working with ReVision Energy and Blue Haven Solar, we are embracing innovative solutions that allow us to reduce costs and invest more in our community,” LaChance added. “This project is just one example of how we at the YMCA of Greater Nashua are dedicated to building a better future for the families we serve.”

The new solar installation reflects our mission to strengthen the foundations of community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. It aligns with broader efforts across Nashua, including similar initiatives at McCarthy Middle School, to lead the way in clean energy adoption and environmental responsibility.

We extend our gratitude to our partners, ReVision Energy and Blue Haven Solar, for their commitment to making this vision a reality.
