POSITION SUMMARY:

The Gymnastics Instructor will teach gymnastics and tumbling skills while ensuring a safe, engaging, and inclusive class experience for all participants. This role is part-time, averaging 8–12 hours per week, and reports to the Senior Program Director of Youth Development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong background in gymnastics instruction.
  • Experience creating lesson plans and adapting activities for different skill levels.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and deliver lesson plans that are engaging, developmentally appropriate, and safe.
  • Prepare classroom space and equipment before and after each class.
  • Teach and demonstrate gymnastics skills while emphasizing safety and confidence.
  • Foster a positive, welcoming environment where every participant feels valued.
  • Maintain clear rules and expectations in class.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and staff
  • This position is designated as fully on-site
  • Ability to commit to a seasonal schedule.
  • Contributes to team and organizational priorities as needed
  • Attend staff meetings and required trainings.
  • Accurately record time worked and follow all YMCA timekeeping procedures.
  • Model YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Maintain the physical condition necessary to demonstrate skills and ensure participant safety.
