Share Your Passion for the Y as a Volunteer

We are Looking for Program Volunteers (direct service), Committee Volunteers, and Board of Director volunteers

The YMCA of Greater Nashua looking for representatives of the greater Nashua area who would like to volunteer. Check out current volunteer opportunities on our website: www.nmymca.org/volunteer

We also need policy volunteers to serve on the Board of Directors or on a committee to assist in strengthening our community. Those interested must be willing to act as an advocate for the Y within the community and make an investment of time, talent and/or treasure. Individuals should also be dedicated to making decisions that are in the best interests of the organization as a whole, as opposed to one particular program or area of the operation.

 

Board of Director Responsibilities:

• Be a member of the YMCA of Greater Nashua
• Be an advocate for the organization in the community and in your networks
• Attend and actively participate in monthly BOD meetings
• Serve on one sub-committee, meeting monthly
• Support the Y Annual Campaign through personal donations and by networking and soliciting others in the community
• Support Y events throughout the year as an attendee and contributor
• Serve at least one three year term

 

Committee Responsibilities:

• Attend and actively participate in monthly committee meetings
• Share expertise to the committee
• Make decisions in the best interest of the organization
• Advocate for the organization
• Support related events

 

YMCA Committee Descriptions:

Board Development – Recruitment, orientation and ongoing-education of board members.
Financial Development – Support and guide fundraising efforts for the organization.
Endowment Development – Responsible for the growth, distribution and oversight management of the Y endowment fund of the organization.
Audit – Oversight of the financial reporting process, contracting of the auditors, and monitoring compliance.
Finance – Oversight to assure fiscal responsibility and sustainability of the organization.
Properties – Oversight of capital projects/budget, expansion/renovation decisions, contracts, maintenance and cleanliness of the facilities.
Annual Campaign – Raising dollars to support the financial assistance program – access for all at the Y.
Cultivation and Stewardship – Lead the cultivation/education of donor prospects and ongoing support of existing donors.

All volunteers for the YMCA of Greater Nashua will be interviewed and a required background screening will be performed.

Program volunteers will meet with a Program Director to review the current volunteer opening.

The selection process for becoming a member of the Board of Directors and/or committee volunteers involves meeting with one or more Y representatives. Any candidate for the Board of Directors also requires approval by the Board Development Committee and the YMCA of Greater Nashua Board of Directors.
