It’s Teacher Appreciation Week

We are saying ‘thank you’ this week, and throughout the year, to the extraordinary educators who have worked tirelessly with students and families to keep things moving forward, despite such an unpredictable year. Our teachers shine every year, but during the pandemic, they have added comfort, and a semblance of normalcy and consistency for the families we serve.

Through all the challenges we’ve faced this year, educators and families have stuck together to show students a bright path forward. This Teacher Appreciation Week, we come together to appreciate educators and the lengths they will go to ensure every student, no matter who they are or what their individual needs are, has the tools to learn, grow, and thrive at our YMCA.

From our Early Education Center to our recent YMCA Educational Academy to our summer Power Scholars Academy, our amazing teachers are committed to the education, safety and growth of the youngest members of society.

Here are a few shout-outs from parents and guardians whose children are enrolled in our programs:

“The teachers help me in many ways. I am so appreciative. I love getting photos and updates about my daughters through the Y’s Brightwheel software program. I come to work knowing that my girls are well cared for at the Y. It warms my heart when I see them having fun and learning at the Y. They are doing great.”

“I thank you all for what you do for the children, especially during these unforeseen times.  I look forward to the growth my daughter will have with you guiding her during this year.”

“It’s really a miracle for these times. With school now exclusively remote, the Y staff know how to help the kids with technology and are very supportive. The staff genuinely care for the kids and want them to be successful.  It’s a genius idea for these days!”

Thanks to our Early Education staff directors, Elizabeth Witmer and Kristie Perreault, who planned a fun week for our teachers, from lunch, to games, to small gifts. They have put the spotlight on our educators. This week, and all year long, we thank our teachers for their hard work, creativity, kindness and dedication.
