YMCA of Greater Nashua Earns Praesidium Accreditation

YMCA of Greater Nashua Earns Praesidium Accreditation®, Reinforcing Commitment to Safe and Supportive Environments

The YMCA of Greater Nashua has earned Praesidium Accreditation®, a nationally recognized distinction that demonstrates the organization’s commitment to the highest standards of abuse prevention and safety.

The accreditation reflects the YMCA’s dedication to ensuring that every child, family, member, volunteer, and staff person experiences an environment built on trust, accountability, and care. Praesidium Accreditation is awarded only after a rigorous assessment process verifying that an organization’s abuse prevention practices are not only in place but consistently implemented throughout its operations.

To achieve accreditation, the YMCA of Greater Nashua underwent a comprehensive review of policies, screening and selection practices, training programs, monitoring and supervision procedures, feedback systems, response protocols, and administrative practices. The accreditation is valid for three years and represents an ongoing commitment to maintaining safe environments and continuously strengthening organizational practices.

“At the YMCA of Greater Nashua, creating safe spaces where people can learn, grow, and thrive is fundamental to our mission,” said Mike LaChance, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Nashua. “This accreditation reflects the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and leadership team to fostering a culture of vigilance, accountability, and care. Families place tremendous trust in the YMCA every day, and this achievement demonstrates our commitment to honoring that trust through actions, not just words.”

The accreditation process also reinforces the YMCA’s longstanding focus on building a culture where safety is everyone’s responsibility. Through comprehensive training, clear policies, and systems that promote transparency and accountability, the YMCA continues to strengthen its ability to protect those it serves while supporting a positive and welcoming experience for all.

“This recognition reflects more than compliance with standards,” LaChance added. “It affirms a culture that prioritizes the well-being of every person who walks through our doors. Safety is essential to our ability to strengthen community, and we remain committed to continuous improvement in everything we do.”
