POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Association Sports Director, the Youth Sports Instructor creates inclusive, engaging sports experiences that help every participant feel successful and connected. You’ll lead programs that promote achievement, relationships, and belonging—helping our members grow physically, emotionally, and socially. This role also serves as an ambassador for the YMCA’s mission and values.

 SCHEDULE:

Weekday afternoons/evenings and weekend mornings.
Hours: 20–25 hours per week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a variety of sports programs including leagues, clinics, special events, and small group training for diverse groups of youth and adults.
  • Create a safe, fun, and supportive environment for all participants, fostering confidence, teamwork, and enjoyment of the game.
  • Build positive relationships with members, families, and fellow staff.
  • Promote the YMCA mission and core values in all interactions.
  • Provide active supervision, ensuring the safety and engagement of all participants.
  • Uphold YMCA policies and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Model inclusive practices and celebrate diverse abilities and backgrounds.
  • Assist with outreach efforts, special events, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Association Sports Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum age: 16
  • Passion for youth development, physical activity, and the power of play
  • Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a team mindset
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to engage and inspire a wide range of participants
  • Basic knowledge of (or willingness to learn) traditional sports such as basketball, soccer, and baseball
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move quickly to ensure participant safety
