We are currently seeking kidstop babysitters—caring, fun-loving, and responsible individuals to provide safe, engaging supervision for children ages 1 to 10 while parents participate in ymca activities. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a positive impact. Must be at least 16 years old.

Position Summary

As a kidstop babysitter, you’ll create a nurturing, energetic space where children can play, learn, and build friendships. This role ensures our youngest members are safe and supported while their caregivers are pursuing wellness. You’ll engage children in activities like games, music, movement, and storytelling while maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming, joyful atmosphere for all children and families.
  • Build relationships by actively engaging with children through play, conversation, and care routines.
  • Support daily operations: assist with snacks, bottle-feeding, cleaning/sanitizing toys, and maintaining an organized space.
  • Model and uphold the ymca’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  • Actively supervise children at all times to ensure safety.
  • Communicate positively with parents and caregivers.
  • Participate in staff training to continually grow in knowledge and service.
  • Take initiative to ensure children feel seen, valued, and supported.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age: 16
  • Experience with children ages 6 months to 12 years preferred.
  • Cpr/first aid certification required (available through the ymca).
  • Completion of ymca child abuse prevention training within first week.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Able to move quickly to ensure child safety.
  • Visual acuity for close and distance supervision.
  • Reasonable accommodations provided as needed.
