Healthy Living Instructor / Personal Trainer

As a Healthy Living Instructor or Certified Personal Trainer, you’ll be more than a coach — you’ll be a guide, helping individuals on their personal journey to a stronger spirit, mind, and body.
POSITION SUMMARY:
As part of our Healthy Living team, you’ll lead wellness programs, personalized training sessions, and small group classes. You’ll also support participants navigating chronic disease prevention and management through evidence-based health initiatives — empowering them to take control of their health and live with purpose.
SCHEDULE AND FLEXIBILITY:
- Must be available to work at least one evening per week
- Flexible part-time scheduling
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Age 18+
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
- Nationally recognized Personal Training certification (ACSM, ACE, NASM, AFAA)
- Nutrition certification or degree in nutrition/related field
- 1-2 years experience in personal training, coaching, or group fitness
- A compassionate, inclusive, and adaptive approach to instruction
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and lead physical activity sessions
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to support individuals across a wide range of backgrounds and health needs
YOUR DAILY IMPACT:
- Design and deliver personalized and small group fitness programs that inspire goal setting and success
- Lead Evidence-Based Health Initiatives (EBHI) like Diabetes Prevention, Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring, arthritis-friendly movement, and LIVESTRONG® at the Y (training provided)
- Provide accessible, inclusive options for all fitness levels and abilities
- Educate participants on sustainable lifestyle changes and nutrition habits
- Track attendance, participant progress, and program outcomes
- Create an encouraging, connected space where everyone feels supported and seen
- Collaborate with fellow Y staff to connect members with additional resources
- Be a visible, welcoming presence before and after sessions
- Flexibility to support various tasks and initiatives as needed
