Conway Arena Grant Helps Enhance YMCA Youth Fitness Center
The YMCA of Greater Nashua is pleased to be the recipient of a $3,000 grant from Conway Arena. YMCA CEO, Mike LaChance accepted the check at a ceremony held at Conway Arena on July 31, 2008.
These funds will enable the Nashua YMCA to purchase several pieces of traditional and interactive youth fitness equipment to expand the options available for children to use as part of their workout at the STRIVE Center.
The STRIVE Center, located in the Nashua YMCA, currently features two treadmills, two stationary bicycles, eight pieces of strength-training equipment designed for youth, free weights, and Dance Dance Revolution - an interactive activity that gets the heart pumping. Youth ages 8-13 are able to use the center under careful supervision by a YMCA trainer. Youth are taught to complete a warm-up, cardio workout, and strength training routine and they track their progress on a personalized chart. Wii Fitness interactive games, yoga mats and body bars are among the items that will be purchased for the center using the funds donated by Conway Arena.
The YMCA offers a variety of classes for children ages 3-13 to help develop healthy habits and knowledge of how and why to exercise.
